In a wide range of industries, clamps are a crucial piece of industrial equipment. Clamps are used to securely install hoses, tubes, pipes, cables and other components in a variety of systems.

The STAUFF clamp system is more commonly known to have a high-quality plastic body with metal plates on either side that allow for locking the component securely inside with bolts or screws. Depending on the client’s requirements application for the clamps, they can be made entirely from metal or entirely from plastic, STAUFF work closely with design engineers to accommodate their needs.

Although mainly described, and renowned as a global leading product as “Hydraulic Clamps” these types of clamps and fittings don’t just have to be used in hydraulic systems. They can be used in drainage, plumbing, heating, electrical work, and more. Read on to find out everything you need to know about hydraulic clamps and their applications:

Types of Hydraulic Clamps

Hydraulic clamps are used to affix, support, or restrain components like hoses and tubes.

To support your component over the full length of its run inside the system or machinery, hydraulic clamps typically have two halves with a bore for the component to be held within. For a more secure fitting, the bore is ribbed, however for a firm grip, that also protects the component (eg the outer layer of a hose) the bore is smooth, for additional protection these smooth bore clamps (H-type) feature a chamfered edge on the bore to protect the component to be held in place.

There are many types of hydraulic clamps that are suitable for different components and systems. It’s essential that your chosen clamp is the right size and style required for the diameter and desired location of your pipes or tubes.

Standard Series According to DIN 3015

The Standard Series (Din 3015, Part 1) is for pipe diameters of up to 102 millimetres. This type of fixing clamp and clamp kit is designed for the quick installation of a variety of flexible or rigid components.

These polypropylene or polyamide clamp bodies come with or without noise-reducing rubber inserts. They are typically used alongside bolts or screws, cover plates, and weld plates. Other accessories like mounting rails, channel rail adapters, hexagon rail nuts, and safety locking plates or washers can also be used if necessary.

Heavy Series According to DIN 3015

The Heavy Series (Din 3015, Part 2) is for pipe diameters of up to 450 millimetres. This type of fixing clamp and clamp kit is designed for the fast installation of large and heavy flexible or rigid components.

These polypropylene or polyamide clamp bodies come with or without noise-reducing rubber inserts. They can be complemented by a range of installation accessories in a variety of durable and high-quality metals, but to a larger scale than the Standard Series.

Heavy Twin Series

The Heavy Twin Series includes double clamps and clamp kits made from either green polypropylene or black polyamide. These clamps are for pipe diameters between 6 and 42 millimetres and can come with noise-reducing rubber inserts.

These clamps hold two pipes and can be installed alongside other accessories like weld plates, cover plates, hexagon rail nuts, and mounting rails. They are also available with anti-corrosion technology including flame and chemical resistance, making them suitable for a variety of systems.

Twin Series According to DIN 3015

The Twin Series (Din 3015, Part 3) is for pipe diameters of up to 42 millimetres. This type of fixing clamp and clamp kit is a double clamp intended to support and secure two flexible or rigid components.

These clamp bodies can be made from a green polypropylene or black polyamide and come with a smooth or ribbed bore. They can be used alongside installation accessories like safety locking plates, cover and weld plates, hexagon rail nuts, mounting rails and more, which can come in a range of high-quality metals.

Light Series Type LB / LBG / LBU

The Light Series Type LB / LBG / LBU features both the single and twin design. They are suitable for pipe diameters between 3.2 and 25.4 millimetres and are made from black polypropylene or yellow polyamide.

These clamp bodies have a compact and lightweight design, making them ideal for installations in confined spaces. They can be used in a range of systems including machine tool construction, mechanical engineering, compressed air technology, measurement and control technology, and vehicle construction.

Light Series Type LBBU

The Light Series Type LBBU is for component diameters between 4 and 32 millimetres. They are a rubber-like plastic clamp made from a black thermoplastic elastomer, making them more resistant against UV, ozone, and weathering.

These compact and lightweight clamp bodies are suitable for small and intricate installations. They are designed with two film hinges that allow for the top parts of the clamp bodies to be opened and the pipes easily inserted or replaced. Other accessories like metal sleeves ensure greater stability.

Light Series Type LN / LNGF / LNUF

The Light Series Type LN / LNGF / LNUF features both the single and twin design for diameters between 6 and 22 millimetres. They are made from either black polyamide or green polypropylene and can be fitted with stainless steel or zinc/nickel coated cover plates.

These clamp bodies have a lightweight and compact design that is ideal for applications in confined spaces. They are often used in a variety of systems, including but not limited to compressed air technology, measurement and control technology, mechanical engineering, vehicle construction, and machine tool construction.

STAUFF ACT Clamps

ACT clamps and accessories are part of the Standard Series and the Twin Series (DIN 3015). They are suitable for pipe diameters between 6 and 42 millimetres and designed with anti-corrosion technology.

These clamp bodies are typically made from a black flame-retardant polypropylene. They feature integrated elastomer strips that prevent the build up of salt water in the space between the clamp and the pipe. This method is proven to automatically drain excess water therefore reducing the long-term effect of crevice corrosion.

Noise and Virbration Reducing STAUFF NRC Clamps

NRC clamps are designed to reduce the noise and vibration of machinery and other systems using pipes, tubes, hoses, and other flexible or rigid components. They are suitable for diameters between 6 and 42 millimetres.

These clamps are made from a black polypropylene with a specially shaped, two-part elastomer insert. This helps to absorb vibrations in the pipe during use, reducing its noise production. They can be used in a range of systems, especially locations that may require lower noise levels.

Round Steel U-Bolts and Flat Steel U-Bolts

Round Steel U-Bolts and Flat Steel U-Bolts come with or without plastic saddles and are suitable for pipe diameters between 25 and 521 millimetres. They are made from uncoated steel, galvanised, blue-chromed steel.

The clamp consists of one round or flat U-bolt and two hexagon nuts. These types of clamps are typically used for the horizontal or suspended fixing of tubes on steel brackets, profiles, and beams. This design allows for the clamp to be adapted to the precise diameter of the components.

Metal Pipe Clamps According to DIN

Metal Pipe Clamps are to be fitted with two bolts for pipe diameters between 7 and 61 millimetres or between 20 and 521 millimetres. They are made from uncoated, galvanised, thick-layer passivated or hot-dip galvanised steel, or entirely stainless steel.

These types of clamps are suitable for the fixing of tubes, pipes, hoses, and other flexible or rigid components to steel brackets, profiles, and beams, or any required floor, wall, or ceiling. This makes them a versatile clamp for many systems and locations.
