Stopflex® - Retention System

Stopflex® components can be applied to various flexible hoses. A brand, equipped with rubber gasket, remains perfectly secured, simultaneously allowing the hose to swell according to the working pressure. The retaining components can be secured to nipples, SAE flanges or other system components. The hose is secured to the plant by means of a cable, protecting both the operators and components

Assembly Guidelines for Optimal Stopflex® System Performance

Proper assembly is crucial for the optimal performance and safety of the Stopflex® system. Failure to adhere strictly to the assembly instructions may compromise the system's functionality and safety features. Extensive testing has led us to the ideal combination of materials and assembly methods, ensuring maximum efficiency and reliability.

Environmental Considerations

Exposure to environmental factors like ultraviolet light, ozone, saltwater, and various chemical agents (such as solvents, fuels, oils, greases, volatile compounds, acids, and disinfectants) can accelerate the degradation of the band seal. To maintain safety and effectiveness:

  • Replace the seal every 4 years if the band remains unassembled.
  • Replace the seal every 2 years if the band is assembled.

Important Safety Notes

  • The Stopflex® system must never be reused after a hose rupture, slip-off, or hose replacement, as reusing the system may compromise its safety integrity. If the system is reused, the assembler assumes full responsibility.
  • The system is not suitable for high-pressure air or compressed gas hoses.
Stopflex Hose Protection

Step-by-Step Assembly Process

Step 1

Step 1: Disengagement During the disengagement step, the Stopflex® system is inactive. However, when properly installed, it ensures that the flexible hose is fully disengaged from the restraining ferrule. The hose accelerates due to the internal pressure of the contained oil.

Step 2: Release/Venting of Pressure In this step, pressurised oil is released from the flexible hose, causing the hose to rapidly release stored energy. This can trigger a hazardous "whip effect," posing a significant risk to nearby personnel and equipment.

Step 2
Step 3

Step 3: Restraint Once the hose is disengaged and pressure is released, the Stopflex® system activates. The steel cable is tensioned and deforms while the plate securely embeds into the hose rubber, preventing the clamp from disengaging. The hose clamp and plate then deform elastically, absorbing the energy and stopping the dangerous motion of the flexible hose. This critical phase occurs within seconds and is vital for halting the hose's hazardous movement.
